The Game Interview With The Wallstreet Journal! Speaks On Being Controversial, Goals To Become A Mogul, Possible G-Unit Reunion + More

"Jayceon Taylor, also known as "The Game", has seen success recently with his released album, "Jesus Piece' and his reality show. Now, he and his manager Dontay "Taydoe" Kidd want to leverage his mainstream success to help him evolve from a rapper to more of a business mogul. In this sitdown interview with the Wall Street Journal's Lee Hawkins, the Game, Kidd and producer DJ Skee talk about The Game's journey to success and what it will take for him to make the transition from one of rap's most feared and fearless personas to mogul. They also discuss his ongoing rivalries with rappers such as 50 Cent and 40 Glocc and his level of openness to the possibilities of resolving the differences between members of his former group, the G-Unit, and a G-Unit reunion." - WSJDigitalNetwork

Juelz Santana Wants to Know Where the Hell His ‘Diplomatic Immunity’ Plaque Is

On Monday night, Juelz Santana released God Will’n, his first solo mixtape since wrapping up his Back Like Cooked Crack series in 2006. Since then, Santana’s career has been associated most with empty promises (I Can’t Feel My Face), disappointing group compilations (Skull Gang’s The Takeover) and enough album delays to dishearten even the most diehard fan. The release of God Will’n is a crucial moment for Juelz; depending on it’s reception, it will mark a return to form for the Harlem Diplomat, or further an argument that perhaps Santana’s ship has sailed. But when I sat down with Cam’ron’s former protégé at the Def Jam offices last week, failure didn’t appear to be an option he’d considered. Here’s what Juelz had to say about God Will’n, his hiatus, and plans to have Lil Wayne executive-produce his next album – (as told to Neil Martinez-Belkin @Neil_MB)

XXL: The Diplomats were pioneers of the mixtape game, but since then the way music is distributed has changed drastically. How did that affect your return to the mixtape circuit?

Juelz: You gotta treat it like an album now. That’s what mixtapes have progressed to. You see, we didn’t have the internet. We didn’t have all these great ways to get the music out there. We pressed tens of thousands of CDs. Paid for them. Got on the road and put them into people’s hands. But now it’s bigger and better. It helps artists get on a platform where some of these dudes don’t even need labels. The mixtape game is definitely a blessing right now for a lot of people. For God Will’n, it couldn’t just be a bunch of freestyles on other people’s beats. I wanted something that could stick a little harder.

It’s been a long time since you released an album, or mixtape for that matter. What has your relationship with Def Jam been like?

Well at times, I had issues with the label, but I’m not gonna blame it on the Def Jam stamp. It’s people that work at Def Jam and they come and go. People that were there five years ago, most of them aren’t here anymore. As far as with “Back to the Crib”, I felt L.A. Reid dropped the ball. Nothing against him. He was always wanting a Juelz project. But as far as when I did the Chris Brown record and I wanted to go with that, well you know the situation. Rihanna was on Def Jam and a very big artist for them. Chris and her had just gotten into that situation. I was one of the first to reach out to Chris and when I did, I told them I was going to; everybody said OK. Then when I brought the record back it was “Nah. This is not gonna happen, Juelz.” So I had a sour taste about some things that happened but never with Def Jam as a whole, it was just with that situation. And LA’s not here no more, but it was never a big problem with him. Maybe it was just bad timing with that record.

You recently announced that Lil Wayne is going to executive produce your album. How did that happen?

I asked him.

When?

A couple weeks ago. A lot of people didn’t know my situation at Def Jam and wanted to see me working, including Wayne. He wanted to know what the hold-up there was, and I told him it was just me. But I just wanted to find a way to do something with him. The I Can’t Feel My Face stuff was just so crazy. Not like Wayne’s going to be on my album like that, but I just respect him and I know when it comes to my album, he knows what I do. He is creative and when he gets with me, we always have a certain type of chemistry. He knows what works. I do too. And with us collaborating, it will make something that counts and matters and will be successful.

Did it affect your guys’ relationship when I Can’t Feel My Face never materialized?

That’s one thing. We always maintained the friendship. Even when our album fell through we never had any bickering or anything like that. We’ve always been cool; I fuck with Wayne for a lot of reasons. When Carter II came out and he sold a million records he was sending me songs that night for I Can’t Feel My Face. At that time that we were making music, I kind of just stopped what I was doing, and Wayne went even harder. That’s all that really happened. If I called Wayne right now, he’d pick up. I respect how he’s always been with me.

March marks the 10-year-anniversary of Diplomatic Immunity. What does that album mean to you?

That’s the baby right there. As far as me, Cam’s album Come Home With Me was a project that I was fortunate enough to perform my ass off on. But Diplomatic Immunity…I’ve never said this before, but it was kind of like my album. A lot of those records were things I recorded for my album, but at the time we agreed it would help me in my solo career to put it on Diplomatic Immunity. But yeah, that album was everything. It was a double CD and for people to call it a classic—it’s hard enough to have one good CD. So for us to put out a double CD and people say it was a classic 10 years later, it’s a big deal right? I think it’s a big deal.

Definitely. How has–

I don’t even have my Diplomatic Immunity plaque. I’m kind of pissed off. I ain’t got no plaques. Don’t get it twisted, I got plaques, nigga. I just don’t have the actual physical plaques. That’s what we’re gonna do while we’re here today. We’re gonna order all my plaques. We need to get this plaque situation going on today. You’ve really started some shit with the plaques.

Sorry. What I wanted to ask is how the relationships between you, Cam, Jim and Zeke have changed in those 10 years since Diplomatic Immunity. You’ve all had big careers individually. Has that changed the dynamic of the crew?

I ain’t gonna say it’s different. It’s not different, but it’s different. I don’t know if that makes sense, but that’s what it is. It’s not different…but it’s different. Everything changes. That’s life. So when we’re together we still laugh, we still joke, we still kick it. I would say we’re just not together as much anymore, but that’s not ’cause we don’t like each other. At the time, that’s just what we were doing. We were the Diplomats, so we had no choice but to be together.

Kim Kardashian Opens Up About Relationship With Beyonce, Pregnancy & Marriage With Kanye, Baby Names, Divorce with Kris Humphries & More

Kanye West dropped the news on us at the end of December that his girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, is pregnant. Along with the announcement came jokes and uncertain rumors — so Kim swung by Sway in the Morning to state the facts.
First of all, yes she gets along with Beyonce. In fact, they haven’t even discussed Kim’s pregnancy or what the tabloids say.
“We’ve never even talked about it. It doesn’t even come up in conversation, probably because they get so many ridiculous stories brought to them everyday with things that are true and not true. And vice versa.”
Kim also vents about her relationship with Kanye West, potential baby names and even speaks in detail about her on-going divorce with Kris Humphries.
“All the jokes, like ‘things longer than Kim’s marriage,’ technically I’m still married, so that joke doesn’t really work. I’ve been married for two years now. Give it up people.”
Watch below for the whole truth straight from the Kardashians themselves, and set your DVRs for their show ‘Kourtney &  Kim Take Miami’ airing Sunday, January 20 on E!.

Kid Cudi Covers Complex's February/March Issue [Pics + Cover Story Excerpt Inside]

Kid Cudi is gearing up for the release of his third studio album titled Indicud in March of this year. Complex has given him the cover of their upcoming February/March issue, which goes on sale February 4.

The 28-year old G.O.O.D. Music artist sits down with Complex's director of content strategy Joe La Puma for the issue's cover story. Check out an excerpt from it below.

When you were working on “Efflictim” for the WZRD EP, you said you would wake up in a terrible mood. Are you having fewer of those days now?
Hell yeah. Every day is an adventure. [Laughs.] My last relationship took a lot out of me. I needed to reboot and rebuild my life. I’m in a positive place now, a happier place. I’m enlightened. It’s better when you get older because you start to see things from a different perspective. Whether it’s love, or just trying to figure out what you’re going to do in life.

Are you enjoying being single? I enjoy living my life for me and not by someone else’s rules. It gets lonely but the loneliness doesn’t bother me. I have time to think, time to write, time to myself. I’m winging it every day. I hope love finds me. I always hope for that. But now I’m super happy. I got my party shoes on every night.

Last time we spoke was in March. What’s been going on since then? It’s been crazy for me. I took a trip on antidepressant lane for a little bit. After the WZRD song “Dr. Pill” everyone thought I was talking about molly or ecstasy. But I’m talking about prescription meds. I had just gotten a shrink. I was having an emotional breakdown with this breakup. I kept trying different pills for five months. It f*cked me up.

You addressed that on “Just What I Am.” They weren’t working. It was every side effect on the bottle. I couldn’t f*ck. My body didn’t work. It was not good. I said, “Something’s wrong with me. What the f*ck? Why do I feel like I want to punch an elephant?” [Laughs.] “Why am I so irritable?” I finally got off the pills and then I started feeling normal. My brain went back to where it needed to be. I was able to analyze things and get my sh*t together.

What about therapy? Was that helping you? A year ago I wouldn’t even go to a therapist or psychiatrist. But I gave it a shot. It’s working for me but it’s not for everyone. I’ve got some f*cking problems. [Laughs.] It’s good for me to talk to someone who helps me see things. I had no other choice.

I was like, “Damn, I have to take a pill in order to be OK?” It bothered me. That was a real good moment after I got off the pills. I started to feel like myself again. I was happy and sh*t. I don’t need anything to make me feel good. I just need to get my mind in check and stop trippin’ on bullsh*t. I need to stop letting motherf*ckers break me down, and make me feel like sh*t. I got to be a little stronger for myself and for my family and my fans. I can’t be out here like some simp, letting something beat me down and make me feel like a peon. It was about reclaiming who I am. It’s like “All right, let’s go. It’s time. F*ck everyone.” [Laughs.]

Who’s everyone? Anyone that’s ever said anything negative, anyone that’s ever doubted me. I was a nice guy early in my career, and people in the business still found a way to call me a d***. Now I’m just like, whatever man. F*** it. I’m trying to be nice to you cocksuckers and you don’t even deserve all that. It’s war. People don’t know what cool is.

So, what’s cool? It’s not hard to grasp. Cool is just being f****** authentic. Being yourself, being straight up. Legit—and have some type of f*cking taste.

You called yourself the “Bane of Hip-Hop” and “Hip-Hop’s Villain: Leader of the Delinquents.” What makes these roles so enjoyable for you? There are so many dynamics to a villain. Who are we to say they’re villains? They’re just people who see things in a different way and go to the extreme to show us how things should be. Hip-hop needs a wake-up call. I don’t think hip-hop is terrible, or it’s dead and all that b*******. It’s better than it’s been in a long time. It’s just some industry sh*t. It’s super weak. Nobody’s authentic.

That’s good for me because when I do my sh*t, it makes me look like the greatest musician alive—and I’m not. I’m just doing what we should all be doing. I’m using the same drums everyone else uses, same synths, sometimes the same samples. I see things in my own way and execute them that way. Nobody really does that. People ask, “What’s going to sell? What’s going to do this or what’s going to do that?” It’s weak. Most people are p*ssies.

Charlamagne Tha God Says Cassidy Can't Beat Meek Mill "Meek Mill Makes Better Songs Than Cassidy"

Cassidy and Meek Mill are currently locked in an ongoing battle on wax. To date Cass has released two diss tracks, "Me, Myself & iPhone" and "R.A.I.D." While has dropped the song "Repo." There are a wide variety of opinions on who is winning the war of words. Power 105.1 radio personality Charlamagne Tha God recently sat down with Vlad TV to give his opinion on why he believes ultimately Cassidy can't win.

"Cassidy can't win man," Charlamagne said. "I'm on record saying that. If it was just like a URL battle where it was just Cassidy a capella [Vs.] Meek Mill a capella, I think Cassidy would win. Because I think Cassidy would take the Loaded Lux approach where he would basically be talking about spiritualism over materialism. And I think people would probably buy into that. But Meek Mill makes better songs than Cassidy. Cassidy is a better battle rapper, but Meek Mill makes better songs. And right now Meek Mill is the hot guy so Meek Mill can get better beats, and can afford better beats. I don't think can afford better beats and ain't nobody gonna be throwing Cassidy no beats for him to do a diss record towards Meek Mill. I feel like hip hop nowadays is more of a popularity contest than a talent show. So even if you are more skilled than your opponent, if you're not as popular as your opponent nobody's gonna care."

Charlamagne also said he thought it was wise of Meek not to battle Cass for $100,000. Check out the rest of the interview below.

Is Lebron James Returning To Cleveland? The Cavaliers Set To Make The All-Star A Huge Contract Offer In 2014

Lebron James crushed the Cleveland Cavaliers fan's hearts in 2010 when he made the decision to leave the team that drafted him out of high school in 2003 to make a run for a championship by joining Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade in Miami.

As crazy as it might seem, the Cavs appear ready to try and bring Lebron back in the summer of 2014 when he becomes a free agent.

The Akron Beacon Journal's Jason Lloyd reported that the Cavs are saving cap room space to make the eight-time NBA All-Star a max contract offer.

Executives and agents around the league are convinced the Cavaliers won’t do anything to jeopardize their ability to sign a free agent to a max contract during the summer of 2014, when LeBron James can again become a free agent. As fans in Northeast Ohio continue to howl and remain divided about the possibility of his return, more and more people around the league believe there is a strong possibility James will indeed return to Cleveland after next season.

Lebron, an Ohio native who still lives there in the off season has said a return to Cleveland is not out of the question.

"I think it would be great," James said before a game against the Cavs last season. "It would be fun to play in front of these fans again. I had a lot fun times in my seven years here. You can't predict the future, and hopefully I continue to stay healthy. I'm here as a Miami Heat player, and I'm happy where I am now, but I don't rule that out in no sense."

Chris Broussard of ESPN points out that 30-year old Dwayne Wade appears to be losing a step and Lebron might look at Cleveland as a nice alternative to the Heat. Wade's scoring and assists are down this year from their career averages.

Cleveland has a nice nucleus of young players like Kyrie Irving, Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters.

What do you think the chances are Lebron returns home in 2014? Leave a comment whats your opinion?
