San Francisco 49ers & Baltimore Ravens To Face Off In Super Bowl XLVII. Who Will Win?

In a game that is being dubbed the "Super HarBowl" because the two opposing coaches, Jim Harbaugh (49ers) and John Harbaugh (Ravens) are brothers, the Baltimore Ravens will face off against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII, Sunday February 3 in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

The Ravens made it to the big game by defeating the New England Patriots 28-13 in the AFC championship game. The 49ers beat the Atlanta Falcons 28-24 in the NFC championship game to advance to the big show.

It will be the 49ers first appearance in the Super Bowl in 18 years. They have never lost a title game. If they win they will tie the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most title rings with six.

The Ravens will be playing in their second Super Bowl. The defeated the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXXV for their only title.

Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis will be playing in his final NFL game after 17 years in the league. He previously announced his retirement.

"I said to our players last year, don't put your heads down, we'll be back," said Lewis. "To see us come back like this, after all the injuries and things we have been through... our team is just awesome and this our time."

Bookmakers have listed the 49ers as 4.5-point favorites to win over the Ravens. There are expectations this could be the heaviest bet title game ever.

"It's a monster matchup, brother versus brother," William Hill oddsmaker Jimmy Vaccaro said. "I believe it will top last year's Super Bowl handle and could go higher."

People are buzzing about 50 Cent's new music video for "Major Distribution" featuring Young Jeezy and Snoop Dogg. The Eif Rivera-directed clip has all the key elements that make a hip hop video hot.

"It came from a jeweler. Jewelers, they made it. Yeah, we got it and ended up putting it in the video," the G-Unit boss explained. "That's what rappers do: Rappers put jewelry in videos."

Fif said contrary to previous reports the piece wasn't lifted from Gunplay's neck when he went flying through the air like a video game character at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Prodigy Signs Actor Rick Gonzalez To Infamous Records

Music News

According to Rob Markman of MTV, in Hollywood, actor Rick Gonzalez has made quite the name for himself starring alongside Tom Cruise (“War of the Worlds”), Samuel L. Jackson (“Coach Carter”) and Will Ferrell (“Old School”), and now, the Brooklyn native looks to add another dimension to his building career.
As an MC, Realm Reality (Rick’s hip-hop alter-ego) has always dreamed of rocking with the best and now he finally has his chance. On Wednesday, Mobb Deep’s Prodigy came to MTV News to announce that he has signed Real Reality as an artist to his Sony-distributed Infamous Records.
For a celebrated lyricist of Pee’s stature, signing an artist is not so simple. “At Infamous, I’m looking for artist that, #1 have their own movement goin’, they got their thing goin’ already,” he told us.
But Realm didn’t just wake up one day and decide to be a rapper. He’s been spitting since 1998, and growing up as a kid in Brooklyn, it was all around him. In 2011 he dropped a mixtape titled The Invisible Man, which was marked by grit and attention to lyrical detail. “It was the pulse of my neighborhood so it was always there and I’m proud to say that my passion for acting was there as well,” Gonzalez explained. “The fact to have a co-sign like Pee to just really hear the music and just let people know that this is a stamp and that we’re coming with some real raw. It’s a blessing. It’s amazing.”
Gonzalez isn’t the first actor to make the transition; Drake and Donald Glover as Childish Gambino have made respective impacts on rap as well. Still, Realm is taking a slightly different approach. While Drake came in with a polished, R&B-flavored sound and Glover’s raps were peppered with comedy and emotional self-reflection, RR takes a more gritty approach rooted in his experiences before acting. “The fact that Realm is also in Hollywood doing his thing with movies and all that, it only helps,” Prodigy said. “In this day in time you have to be multifaceted, you have to wear many hats.”
Above all else, the Mobb Deep MC had nothing but praise of Realm’s rap ability. “You already know how I feel about lyrics,” he said.
Next up is In the Grind We Trust, Realm’s upcoming mixtape for which he and Prodigy will hold a listening on Thursday night at Platinum Sound Recording Studios in NYC.
But Gonzalez won’t be abandoning what made him famous. He told us he has a few film projects in the works, adding that he wants to blend his passion for both of his artistic outlets. “I look at it as a happy marriage of just having a really hot girlfriend and a side chick that just know each other and they get hoping that they can get along,” he described, just as a rapper would.

A$AP Yams Explains His Role, Says He Is A$AP Rocky's Spirit Guide

A$AP Yams explains his role in the A$AP Mob as being a sort of spirit guide for the young Rocky.

A$AP Yams Explains His Role, Says He Is A$AP Rocky's Spirit GuideA$AP Rocky saw a lot of success in a very short period of time. It all started with his "Purple Swag" video going viral, and a major label deal and impressive mixtape soon followed. The man behind A$AP Rocky, who helped make it all happen for the New York rapper, is A$AP Yams. Many people are familiar with his name but don't really know what exactly Yams does for the A$AP Mob. The New Yorker was recently profiled by The New York Times, and explains he is pretty much the boss.

Yams explains that Rocky is like Luke Skywalker, and he is like Rocky's Yoda. "I mean, like, realistically, I'm the boss. I'm the boss of the whole operation. Nothing goes through without me and Rocky approving it first, and whatever Rocky does, I make sure I'm hands on with all that stuff. I would say Rocky is Luke Skywalker and I'd probably be Yoda. Whenever he wants some advice on life or his career, he just comes to me. I'm the spirit guide."

The A$AP Mob member continues to comment on Rocky's debut album, which debuted at #1. He responds to criticism about Rocky not 'sounding' like he's from New York as well. "Long.Live.A$AP is a New York record, first and foremost. It fellows a similar formula I would say to Life After Death by Notorious B.I.G., Hard Knock Life by Jay-Z," Yams said, "People could say anything they want about Rocky, talk about 'oh he sounds like he's from here, he sounds like he's from there,' I don't care what nobody says, people don't know what New York rap sounds like in 2012, 'cause it's been so messed up for the past five years. How do you know what New York rap sound like?"

The Roots Are Dropping an Album With Elvis Costello

The Roots have collaborated with a wide range of hip-hop’s finest, backing everyone from Jay-Z to Nas during live performances. Now, though, they’re getting ready to drop a project with a similarly esteemed musician—it’s just one who’s not a rapper.
According to Billboard, the Philadelphia collective will be releasing an album later this year with Elvis Costello. “It was really love at first sight,” Questlove told the site of his first meeting with Costello. “The second time he came on [Late Night With Jimmy Fallon], we surpassed the first one. So by the third time, he was like, ‘Let’s stop messing around and do something together.’”
Since then, they’ve recorded over a dozen songs. “We had 13 or 14 songs, but then we said, ‘Ooh! Wait a minute! Let’s replace four of these songs with four better songs!” he continued. “And now we have the tightest 12-14 song collection out of about 20 songs that we made.”
Though The Roots are signed to Def Jam, it’s unclear whether or not it’ll come out through the storied hip-hop label. “We kind of have the freedom to take it around, whether it’s to Elvis’ people or Def Jam’s people,” he added. “I can just say that it is brilliant.”
The last project that the group released, 2011′s undun, is nominated for Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammy Awards.
